Important info re your upcoming Street Smart driven by Tony Quinn Foundation Road Safety session
You are in for a fun and challenging day that has one simple objective: to equip you with the tools you will need to safely navigate the road – assisting to make you a well-prepared and confident driver.
We’re going to put you in real-world driving situations that will help develop good decision-making, as well as teaching you about reading the road, assessing risks, planning ahead, managing distractions, along with understanding and using your car’s safety equipment the way it was designed to be used.
It’s an in-car experience like nothing you’ve experienced before, delivered in a safe and controlled environment, under the watchful eye of professional driver coaches.
Check in at the track will be open from 8:00am, and please arrive no later than 9.15am for a 9.30am sharp start. Your day will run until approx. 4:30-5pm.
You will rotate around the seven activities listed below, four in the morning and three in the afternoon. Lunch is approximately half an hour.

Please bring the following with you on the day:
Your own vehicle (with current registration, warrant of fitness and insurance). It’s important that you understand the capability of your own car, and how it responds in different situations. That’s why many of the exercises on the day are conducted in the car you’re learning to drive in.
Drinks, snacks and your lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided upon arrival and at lunchtime. If you are joining us at Hampton Downs there is an onsite cafe - Aoraki Cafe - where you can purchase food and beverages.
Driver’s licence – either a Learner’s, Restricted or Full Licence. Please bring this with you to check-in.
Your parent/guardian – this is important as we want to make sure the learning continues after you leave the Street-Smart day. Only a driver and parent or guardian are able to be in the vehicle during the event. Additional observers are not permitted to attend as this is a health and safety issue and distracting for the driver and coach.
Appropriate clothing for all weather conditions.
Before you arrive, please remove any loose items that may move around in your vehicle i.e. water bottles, shoes etc. You will be experiencing the likes of emergency braking hence loose objects in the car are not permitted.
